We were reunited with our girl today! We played with her in her group's playroom. She wanted to see all the books on the shelves. She loved playing with Daddy today as he lifted her in the air, blew on her belly, and ran after her all over the room! The room we are in also has a desk and cabinets. Today our inquisitive girl wanted to look in every nook and cranny! We learned it is certainly not baby proofed as we quickly hid marbles, coins, and other small objects from Little Miss. Before we knew it we bad to say our Paka Paka's. As we walked by the large play room window on our way out she gave us another wave goodbye. She is such a love!
Afterwards, we stopped in a shopping area. Our driver said he would wait at the car for us. When we returned, we noticed a police car with flashing lights near our vehicle. Once we were loaded in our driver received a knock on his window from the police. We quickly noticed this was a different experience from home. Our driver got out of the car to have a discussion with the officer. The officer said he was parked illegally, our driver explained he had been told by another officer it was permitted. This went on for some time. Eventually, it appeared to us he was going to receive a ticket. We waited but then things appeared to take a turn. Another officer arrived, his lights also flashing. Next thing we see our driver getting in to the police car, but on his own. He stayed in the squad car for nearly 30 minutes! We didn't know what was going on. We started planning what we would do if they carted him off- hide in the car, sneak out and walk back to the hotel. Finally, our driver returned with a $9 ticket! He apologized profusely. We asked why it took so long and he said "Oh he had to write up the ticket". That did not seem too time effective for $9! Bill said that parking ticket would be an entire episode of Cops!
Tonight, we went to a sushi restaurant. Bill was a happy man. When we returned to the room the crib had arrived for our Little Miss. The countdown is really on now. Three more visits and then we get to bring "home" our daughter. We can not wait to be a family of three!
How fun that you got to go to the play room again today. It sure beats the little room I bet. At least your house is already baby proofed. No need to worry about her pulling on the drawers there! Wow, the whole parking ticket sure sounds like a bit of excitement you probably didn't expect. Chalk it up to yet another memory from Russia. Not quite as fun as your visits with Little Miss or your sightseeing, but interesting none the less. Well, we are counting the days as well until you get to be with your little one. So exciting to think about all of the new things for her to see, and for the three of you to do out of the house. Thanks for the update! Love, Robert
ReplyDeleteI find that "Little Miss" is more & more like her daddy, he is certainly inquisitive so she is going to have that trait of Bill's. I think she is going to be a fast eater, too, since she loves her food! Can't you see it, they will be racing each other & you will have to scold both of them!!! Dad just asked me what "Little Miss" was going to sleep in & I told him there would be a crib & now it is there waiting for her. Before you know it, you will be counting the hours, rather than the days, to the "Gotcha" actual moment!! So, so exciting!! We all can't wait! Then the blogs should be really full of news and activities of the three of you together! Such a blessing! Our Christmas blessing!
ReplyDeleteGlad Alex didn't get taken to jail--ya'll would be trying to bail him out. He is such a wonderful helper to you and made such a lot of difference to you with his help in everyway. What a nice gentleman he must be.

ReplyDeleteI’m a little surprised Bill didn’t try to step in and negotiate with the officers to get out of the ticket. But, being in an unfamiliar country, it’s probably just as well that you two hid in the car while your driver wrote his ticket. Sounds more like Curb Your Enthusiasm than Cops. I hope Bill is building up his stamina chasing your little one around the playroom. He sounded a little tired yesterday after the visit. When it’s non-stop, he has to be able to keep up. Maybe some wind sprints in the hotel parking lot each morning will help. I hope tomorrow goes well, and I can’t wait for Friday. Love, Aunt Linda
