Today we had to take Little Miss to have her passport photo taken again! We were concerned about this outing after the stressful experience she had the first time around. Today our prayers were answered! Our sweet girl handled it beautifully. Bill & I took charge of the process today. I carried her to the car and held her the entire time. She calmly looked out the window and smiled at her Daddy in the backseat. Once we arrived at the photo shop, we took our time getting her ready, slowly removing her hat and jacket. She sat on the chair and looked right at the camera. Not a single tear was shed. We were so proud of our brave girl. While we waited for the photos to be printed we gave her a teething biscuit. She was quite happy. She is so funny. With every bite she smiles and coos as if it is the first time she has ever tasted it. The entire time in the shop she remained happy and curious, watching all the people coming in and out. On the car ride back, she again looked out the window. Finally she rested her head on my chest. This was the first time our busy girl has relaxed for this amount of time. Again, we are so proud of her. It brings me to tears to think how scary all of this can be for our little girl. Today, was another sign of progress.
We also had a chance to speak to the doctor of the baby home. She confirmed our daughter's schedule, diet, medical information, as well as a bit more information on her birth parents. The doctor told us more about the summer home this particular baby home owns. For about 2.5 months in the summer, they all go to live on a property in the country near the Gulf of Finland. There the weather is better and the children are able to spend their days outdoors. The doctor was warm and friendly.
After our visit, we went to the baby store to stock up for Little Miss. We then enjoyed a nice meal with our driver and translator. Our driver loves a meal and we can always count on him to choose a good restaurant. Today was no exception. We went to Sadko. It is located across from the Mariinsky Theatre. This theatre has the best ballet and opera in the city. It is beautiful. The restaurant was lovely as well. It had large red chandeliers in the dining rooms. The food was delicious. They serve a mix of traditional Russian cuisine and some international meals. The name Sadko comes from a Russian folk hero.
So the countdown is winding down. One more visit with Little Miss tomorrow. Friday we get to leave the baby home with our daughter!
What a relief! I have been thinking about the three of you all morning hoping today's outing would be a better one than last time. What progress not only for her, but for you and Bill to realize you needed to take charge today. It warms my heart to hear how the bond between the three of you is forming. I can't wait to here story after story when you get to take her from the home. How great that you could get some more information from the doctor, all of which will help you in the future I'm sure. ReplyDeleteI knew it! I had a really good vibes about the second trip to get her photo re-taken. Ever since you told me about the adoption I have had this calm and peaceful feeling about the process and your journey. I know this is what God intended you to do all along....it just seems to have taken a while! Sometimes he speaks in whispers and sometimes he speaks very loud. I think he is yelling this time!

What progress is right!!! That sweet baby girl felt safe & secure with her Mommy holding her & knowing her Daddy was close. You should both be very proud--those parenting skills are there!!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you talked to the dr. & especially know what food to get for Little Miss!! After all, it is a sure thing that this is of great interest to this precious Little Miss! Again, I say, she will fit right into this family with her love of food!! We will try to keep the food on the healthy side so she won't have to go to Weight Watcher's with her Gamma!! (Just kidding, of course!!) Oh my, what a nice day this turned out to be. God's hands are all over this wonderful family plan he is orchestrating for you three! We see answered prayers constantly.
Oh, I bought some "puffs". This old gamma wasn't familiar with them, but a friend told me that Gerber makes them, and I found them yesterday.They come in flavors, and since you said Little Miss likes bananas, I bought banana flavor!! We want to be prepared at our house for her, too!!

Just fabulous!!! God is absolutely amazing...she was calm and did well b/c her parents were calm and together. How blessed she is to have both of you!!! It brings me to tears too of how scary this is for her, but with the love, comfort and security from you and Bill and from the Lord, she's just going to feel so much comfort, you'll be amazed! Arms continually wrapped around her. It's ever so exciting. As I share with others, so many people are praying for this transition and you three. How perfect to have a little one running around at our events...no more talking about the dogs...it's all about her. What are we going to do but laugh...laugh..laugh at all the funny things she will present to us.
